Uganda
Uganda is a landlocked country in East Africa. The country is bordered to the east by Kenya, to the north by South Sudan, to the west by the Democratic Republic of Congo, to the south-west by Rwanda, and to the south by Tanzania. The southern part of the country includes a substantial portion of Lake Victoria, shared with Kenya and Tanzania. Uganda is in the African Great Lakes region. Uganda also lies within the Nile basin and has a varied but generally a modified equatorial climate. It has a population of around 49 million, of which 8.5 million live in the capital and largest city of Kampala.
Uganda is located in southeast Africa between 1º S and 4º N latitude, and between 30º E and 35º E longitude. Its geography is very diverse consisting of volcanic hills, mountains, and lakes. The country sits at an average of 900 meters above sea level. Both the eastern and western borders of Uganda have mountains. The Ruwenzori mountain range contains the highest peak in Uganda, which is named Alexandra and measures 5,094 meters.

Uganda National Parks
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (BINP) is located in Southwestern Uganda on the edge of great western Rift Valley and is part of the highest block of the Rukiga Highlands. The park covers 331km and is bordered by the Democratic Republic of Congo to the west. The park has a wide altitude ranger from 1,160m (3805 ft.) at the tip of the northern sector to 2,607m (8551 ft.) 0n the Southern edge of the Park.
Murchison Falls National Park lies at the northern end of the Albertine Rift Valley, where the sweeping Bunyoro escarpment merges into a vast, palm-dotted savannah. Gazetted as a game reserve in 1926 and elevated to park status in 1952, it is Uganda’s oldest protected areas. It is also the largest.
East of the Rwenzori Mountain, the landscape is dotted with volcanic crater lakes and carpeted with tea plantations and tropical forest. The largest tract of forest is protected within the 795km2 Kibale National Park. There are two tourism sites in Kibale NP. The central hub is at Kanyanchu, a secondary site is found at Sebitoli, 16km east of Fort Portal on the Kampala road.
Kidepo Valley National Park is a 1,442 square kilometers (557 sq. mi) national park in the Karamonja region in northeast Uganda Kidepo is rugged savannah, dominated by the 2,750 meters (9,020 ft.) Mount Morungole and transected by the Kidepo and Narus rivers.
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park covers the Ugandan slopes of three Virunga volcanoes; Muhuvura, Gahinga and Sabinyo. Though small in size, just 33.7km², it adjoins Volcanoes NP in Rwanda and Virunga NP in Congo.
Lake Mburo NP hosts zebra, hippopotamus, impala, warthog, common eland, African buffalo and over 300 bird species. Predators may include the lion, leopards, hyenas, genets, civets, jackals and serval cats, and since 2015 there is a population of Rothschild giraffes
Queen Elizabeth National Park (QENP) is in the Western Region of Uganda, spanning the districts of Kasese, Kamwenge, Rubirizi, and Kanungu. The park is approximately 400 kilometers (250 mi) by road south-west of Kampala, Uganda’s capital and largest city.
Semuliki National Park is a national park in Bwamba County, a remote part of the Bundibugyo District in the Western Region of Uganda that was established in October 1993. It encompasses 219 km2 (85 sq. mi) of East Africa’s only lowland tropical rainforest.
Rwenzori Mountains National Park is a Ugandan national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the Rwenzori Mountains. Almost 1,000 km2 in size, the park has Africa’s third highest mountain peak and many waterfalls, lakes, and glaciers.
